Here’s a simple, affordable Pepper Steak recipe—classic, fast, and made in one pan 🥩🫑
Easy Pepper Steak
Ingredients
- 1 lb beef (flank steak, sirloin, or cheapest thin beef you can find)
- 2 bell peppers, sliced
- 1 small onion, sliced (optional)
- 2 tbsp oil
Sauce
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- ½ cup water
- 1 tbsp cornstarch (or flour)
- 1 tsp sugar (optional)
- Black pepper (to taste)
Instructions
- Slice beef thin (against the grain). Tip: freezing it 15–20 min helps.
- Heat oil in a skillet on high. Sear beef quickly (2–3 min). Remove from pan.
- Cook peppers & onion in same pan until just tender.
- Mix sauce ingredients in a bowl.
- Return beef to pan, pour in sauce.
- Cook 2–3 minutes until sauce thickens.
Serve over rice or noodles.
Cheap Tips 💡
- Use one bell pepper + more onion to save money.
- Tough beef? Cook it fast and hot, sliced thin.
- No cornstarch? Flour works (use a little more).
- Stretch it further by adding extra peppers or cabbage.
